mathematics in real life

Hi everybody, we are a german secondary school situated nearby Dortmund. we like to run a new Comenius project with 4 partners from Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, France, UK,Finnland, Tschech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, ... The project should involve a lot of students, also during the meetings who discuss about maths problems and applications mainly in the topics functions (linear, quadratic, simple other types of functions), algebra and geometry that they learn in maths lessons and presents results of their work in class to students of other schhols that are involved in the project. The aims is to get material and examples of best practise for lessons that improve students' motivation for mathematics, students namely at the age between 14 and 16. Though there are more than a few ideas for the project we prefer a preparatory visit with (almost) all participants to add more ideas, to concrete the aims and get a high rate for the project.
