Remember the World Cup project we did in 2010? Well, let's go one better in 2012!! Rather than just 32 competing countries, this time the whole world is coming to London next summer. So let's celebrate this global sporting festival with a project to match! We have 2 of our own Olympic mascots (toy versions of Wenlock and Mandeville), who are visiting as many of the participating schools as possible. Unfortunately they are now unable to visit any more schools - their schedule is full! However, please join the project and track their progress - upload your school's photos and Olympic projects!

Olympics in Birla High School

The arrival of Mandeville in Birla High School triggered the pupils and the faculty to celebrate Olympics 2012 in our school. We started off with the Torch Relay, which commenced from the assembly hall and allowed the representative of each class--KG--V--to carry the torch ahead culminating the relay in the Activity Room where an exhibition depicting the Olympic logo, mascot and events were displayed. Our pupils also showcased their creativity by designing mascots and logos imagining if the Global Sporting event would have been scheduled in our city of joy--Kolkata. Events like Boxing and Sprinting were organized along with our very own Kabaddi. Here is a glimpse....

Closing Ceremony of JJOORM, M.M. Rosa Molas School, Zaragoza (SPAIN)

More than 1000 students aged 3 to 17 participated in our JJOOMR (M.M.Rosa Molas Olympics Games). 3rd year Secondary School organized sports events from 9th May to 11th June. Students and teachers participated in different competitions in the breaktime and PE classes. Paralympic competitions (eyes closed, with your left hand...) were the most popular ones. We didn't forget we are an eco-school and use recycled materials (cans, cardboard...) to build bowls, catapults... There was also a painting and a writting competition. The Closing Ceremony was intense. 5th year Primary students received the Olympics Flag, the Olympic torch and a time capsule to be opened in 2018. They will be in 3rd year Secondary and will be the organizers of the II JJOOMR.
