We will use creative written forms of communication which inform our partner school about issues relating to our pupils, their school, location, hobbies and interest in their environment. Our profusion of water, rivers and lakes will be compared to the lack of such in Saudi Arabia. Pupils will communicate through class to class e-mails, PowerPoints and possibly video links.
Both schools will involve their KS3 pupils in an art competition as part of their course, in which they design a logo for the partnership between the two schools. The work will be sent to the partner school electronically. Each school will select the winner from the other school, resulting in a new logo of partnership within the spirit of Connecting Classrooms, which will be uploaded on the school website. This logo will be used by both partner schools in all future collaborative work.
We will investigate the different weather systems in Northern Ireland and Saudi Arabia, sharing information, data and findings. The pupils will research, plan and work collaboratively in teams to produce work for their partner school. This will used different electronic mediums of communication where possible. Pupils will respond to questions and points made by their Saudi partners.
The topic for collaboration is water and we will investigate the specific issues of water purification, water cycle and climate implications eg flash flooding. Pupils in both schools will research work both individually and in teams and share their findings by presenting them in text, images and data in PowerPoint.
We will create a newspaper, a pamphlet or booklets which detail school issues which relate to the pupils. We will develop the key skills in the curriculum of team work, solving problems and creativity. A variety of writing forms will be explored and we hope to use the web cam to communicate verbally with the partner classes
