This powerpoint displays the lyrics to the song Flower of Scotland which refers to the victory of the Scots, led by King Robert the Bruce over the King of England, Edward I, at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.

You can then listen to a podcast of some pupils from Balmuildy Primary school singing Scotland's popular national anthem.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009

Hello Everyone! Happy New Year from your friends in Balmuildy primary. We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas holiday. We have been back for 1 week now and already my pupils are planning things to send to you in the coming term. We thought we could send a guide to Scotland - in English - to tell you a little about our country. Pupils are already researching their partner countries. Perhaps you could send us something your pupils have made about your homelands? The pupils are very excited to have made these connections. A big thank you to everyone!

CHRISTMAS

The group has begun by exchanging information about how we all celebrate the Christmas Festival. Pupils have been able to view presentations and read each other's descriptions of Christmas traditions in their homelands.

Bruno and Balmuildy

Bruno and Balmuildy are two bears, one from Germany and the other from UK. In 2008 they each set off on an adventure to experience life, langauge and culture in the other's country and report back to the students of Balmuildy Primary School in Scotland and St.Josef School in Germany.
