What is Environment GuideProgram?

It is a program launched for primary school students. It is a mobile, interactive and hands-on education program that teaches students the specific skills of sorting waste in the home and school environment as well as the principles of reducing, reusing, recycling and composting. The students will have fun while learning the benefits, the ‘how-to’, and basic problem prevention in the important area of waste management.

What is the program going to do?

1. Educate students, staff and teachers about waste management 2. Give students and teachers' new skills and confidence as about reducing waste. And encourages them to effectively participate in reducing generation of waste at school and home. 3. Build a strong relationship between the student and environment and prepare them to be a positive behavior ambassador in their families and community. 4. Develop a responsible generation of students for waste management that recognizes the need for environment protection.

Environment Guidejob description:

Job Title: Environment Guide Officer Main purpose of the job: Help other students to reduce the amount of rubbish they generate and send to land-fill Scope of the job: Get students interested and involved in cutting down on all sorts of waste and in reducing their effect on the environment. Main responsibilities: • Learn about waste issues: where it comes from, where it goes, why it matters and what can be done to improve the situation. • Pass this information on to students at school and other adults in various situations. For example, one-to-one with neighbors, at meetings of clubs and societies, and at events the waste watcher group set up for this purpose • Get students and their families excited about reducing their waste. • Organize events and opportunities to carry out this work • Find out what would make it easier for students at their school to change their habits. Try to provide this support, for example involving them in competitions such making posters, one free waste day. • Work with other schools in organizing events to show people that reducing waste is a joined effort.


Qualifications:

It is essential that the Worker:
• Likes talking to people and is interested in other people’s opinions
• Is able to learn relatively quickly
• Has some interest in the environment or the future of our world
• Hard working and self-motivated

The following would be desirable but are not essential (training will be given where necessary):
Initiative
• Good verbal communication skills and the ability to enthuse other people
• Somebody who is well organized and able to provide their own administration
• An ability to keep accurate written and numerical records
• An ability to use common computer software such as word processing


Incentive: certificate, prizes.

Duration: the project will be conducted in two phases;
• Phase 1(training & planning)
• Phase 2 (Implementation of the program)
