Upton-by-Chester High School Website

Upton-by-Chester HIgh School is an 11-18 mixed high school with 1750 pupils on role, including 280 in the sixth form.
Upton High School is a specialist Humanitites College. This specialism gives us a unique identity and enables us to bring together all subject areas by placing an emphasis on global undersanding and sustainable futures.
The key subjects are English, Geography, History and Religious Studies. Work across the school is focused on a drive to educate young people in global understanding, celebration of cultural diversity and sustainable futures so that they are empowered to operate as free-thinking and global citizens in the 21st century.

From Vanessa: I think it's good that the exchange visit has made a link with a French/English school as other students can benefit from the connection in the future. I would love to take part in similar activities again as the experience has both enhanced my social and life skills but also my understanding of the language and culture. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in France.
De Lucie: J’ai une meilleure comprehension de la langue, j’ai appris beaucoup de nouvelles choses (langue, habitudes, différences,similarités). Je me suis rendue compte que c’est une chance d’étudier l’anglais pour pouvoir parler avec des anglais. Le groupe s’est soudé au fur et à mesure de l’échange, on a crée des liens. C’était une aventure très enrichissante pour tous. Cet échange a motivé les élèves des 2 collèges à participer à ce genre d’expérience, en voyant l’ambiance et l’apprentissage des langues. Si l’occasion se représentait, je serais prête à le refaire avec joie. Merci beaucoup.
From Bill: My conversational French has improved and my understanding of French culture has grown.
De Sarah: Grâce à cet échange, j’ai acquis un meilleur niveau en anglais. J’ai pu appliquer mes connaissance en dehors des cours. Une solidarité et des liens se sont formés entre nous. Nous nous sommes beaucoup rapprochés. C’est une expérience qui met en valeur le collège. Je participerais à nouveau à un échange.
From Alix: I feel I have grown in confidence , both in speaking French and meeting new people. Activities like this widen the school's connections with other countries and allow bonds to be formed between towns and schools.
De Mélanie: Je comprends mieux l’anglais et la culture anglaise depuis l’échange ( mode de vie, fonctionnement du collège, cuisine etc.). Je participerais volontiers à un nouvel échange car je trouve que c’es très intéressant de découvrir un autre pays. J’aimerais même faire un échange plus long, par exemple de 2 semaines.
From Stephanie: All the pupils have become close friends, both with each other and with the French students. I also think that we have all gained a lot in learning the language and culture and have become more independent.
De Sofia: Grâce à cet échange, j’ai réussi à mieux parler l’anglais. J’ai beaucoup aimé parler avec les anglais, ils m’ont appris beaucoup de phrases et de mots. On a pu voir les différences entre les 2 collèges par exemple, ils portent un uniforme et nous non. Je me suis fait de nouveaux amis et ils sont très gentils.
