Exploring identity and identifying with others through Radio - 22nd June - 27th June

Summary

Each year, Roundhay School runs a week long radio project, which is run by students for students, local primary schools, the local community, businesses and parents. This year, following our theme of Identity we would like to encourage students to think about their identity in relation to those of their international counterparts. Do you run a school radio? If so, we'd love to team up and do something in conjunction with each other. Would you love to run a project like this but don't have the equipment? Would you like to contribute to our school radio show and listen online via Roundhay School's website? Our intention is to explore the identities of a variety of a countries and their inhabitants throughout the week. We would be happy to link up with any school! Get in touch to discuss ideas or possible involvements your school or group of students could provide. For example, our Urdu department are providing students to sing the Pakistani national anthem as well as hopefully interviewing a British Asian cricketers who currently play for Yorkshire or even a Pakistani internation who is currently playing for the county.

India - Primary School Partnership Opportunity

One of the primary schools we work in conjunction is focussing on India as part of their hour long show. They would like to make a partnership with a Primary school, possibly involving a pre-recorded interview or discussion which would then be played on air. If interested, please get in touch!

Preparation

We are currently preparing for our project which begins in 3 weeks. We meet every week with students who are gathering ideas for shows. At the moment, we are appealing to students, departments and the local community to see if they want to be involved and what form that involvement will take.
