The Meaning of Peace

Introduce this project by asking the children to brainstorm what they think the word "peace" means and what peace is to them. Help them to use as many peace words as they can.

"It is heaven upon earth to have a man's mind move in charity, rest in providence, and turn upon the poles of truth."
Francis Bacon

Peace Activities

Children can be involved in a variety of activities.

peace

We made our own peace doves using plastic plates and spoons and then we tried to fly them as far as we could into the air.

Peace Wishes

- Children write down different peaceful acts of kindness in their journals:(what it is / how they feel about it) - Have every child illustrates his/her wish for peace and post, share, and compare them with other kids.

DOVE OF PEACE - QUOETES ABOUT PEACE OF MIND

The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.

- Marcus Aurelius

Peace of mind is that mental condition in which you have accepted the worst.

- Lin Yutang

When we are unable to find tranquility within ourselves, it is useless to seek it elsewhere.

- Francois de La Rochefoucauld

Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of God no matter what the conflict.

- Anonymous

This is a sane, wholesome, practical, working faith: That it is a man's business to do the will of God; second, that God himself takes on the care of that man; and third, that therefore that man ought never to be afraid of anything.

- George Macdonald
