About us

BISC is an international school on the outskirts of Cairo with a pupil body of about 2,000. While the majority of students are Egyptian, we also have pupils from Australia, Italy, India, Iraq, Japan, the UK, the USA, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan and a number of other countries. In the Senior School at BISC, the KS3 curriculum is designed to provide a balanced education in academic and creative subjects as well as physical education. It is aimed at developing a student's potential by encouraging independent thinking, curiosity and enthusiasm whilst training students to work independently and collaborately in groups.

In Year 9 English, we have started working on the BBC School Report project: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/school_report/resources_for_teachers/default.stm and are interested in finding, gathering, writing and assembling news reports and sharing them with other schools. We are also starting to build our own website so that we can showcase our writing (stories, poems, book, film and game reviews) artwork, photos and news.

                   Kid Kidnapped in Pakistan

On Thursday March 4^th in Jhelum in central Punjab, unknown armed men kidnapped a five-year old called Sahil, after breaking into their family home. It is alleged that a very close family relative might have committed the crime of the kidnap. Every one is still looking for the child and the national police force are putting all their effort into recovering him. The police believes that it is a professional gang, and it’s assumed that this gang has chosen this child for a certain reason. A man known as Jameel Yusuf, who used to be the head of the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), has had about 400 of the same cases and has solved most of them.

“After they pay the ransom, they will kill the boy”, said Omar. They have found the kidnappers but the only problem is that they demanded a ransom of £100,000 but sadly they have only paid £20,000 until now.

“I think that it is very sad, I can't imagine what the parents feel, it must be a nightmare, I don’t understand how anyone can take a child from their parents, it is very cruel.” said Mr. Bonham.

Michael Owen ruled out for rest of season

Over to the sport news, an injury has ended Manchester United’s striker, Michael Owen’s season. Owen had pulled his muscle during the first half, but after the injury Manchester United kept looking ahead for the victory and won the Carling Cup final 2-1. The 30-year old, who scored United’s equalizer, was chasing a pass in the first half, but instead of catching the ball he caught an injury. This injury makes Owen’s hopes to play in the World Cup finals in South Africa in the summer, fade away. Owen, who has a year remaining on his contract, will initially be out for a few weeks, but will undergo surgery on Monday.

 The chicken that is not a chicken!!!!

Over to Essex now...where two chickens Dude and Izzy have taken revenge against a local for. They were both tired of being attacked by greedy foxes and eventually thought enough is enough. “They are doing their best to reap a bit of revenge on behalf of hens everywhere”, the owner said.the owner was cleaning out their coop when she made a great astounding discovery, a fox .

“I think this is really rare”,Taise says.

“I think a chicken killing a fox is completely impossible unless the fox was a baby”, Alia says...

But the question is could the chickens have fought back?

Slim at the top

Forbes magazine released its annual list of the world's richest people Wednesday, and for only the second time since 1995, Microsoft founder Bill Gates' name was not at the top.

This year, the title of "World's Richest" went to Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim, with a net worth of $53.5 billion.

He is the first non-American to be declared Forbes' richest person since 1994,  Also, were it not for Bill Gates extensive generosity, Gates would have a net worth of $80 billion, Forbes' Matthew Miller estimated.

Bombing in Iraq after Elections

After the second election since the invasion in 2003, more than thirty mortar rounds hit the capital, and about 35 people died. Regardless of the bloodshed, many people were still queuing to vote at the polling station. More than 500,000 Iraqi security personnel were sent on a vast operation. Vehicles were forbidden to go on roads, and the border touching Iran was closed. President Barrack Obama has said;

 “We mourn the tragic loss of life today, and honor the courage and resilience of the Iraqi people who once again defied threats to advance their democracy.”

Egyptian billionaire sentenced to death for murder of Lebanese pop star girlfriend

Hisham Talaat Mustafa, a billionaire businessman was granted an appeal two days ago when account throughout his conviction for paying a hit man two million dollars to kill his pop star girlfriend, Suzanne Tamim. The suspension was granted for undisclosed reasons

The hitman, Mohsen Al-Sukkari, an ex-police officer was arrested when Dubai  inbvestigators found a foot print at the crime scene and traced the shoes to the shop that made them where he used his credit card.

Further investigation into the murder revealed that Suzanne was murdered for refusing to marry Hisham.

Football in 3D 

This summer's World cup football games are going to be extra special this year because many lucky people will be able to watch the matches in 3D.
The only way you could watch something in 3D is to have a special 3D TV, but many electronic companies soon going to be launching new models in the next few months

Last year BBC news also announced that the electronic companies will try to show some of the 2012 Olympics in 3D!

 The best thing about 3D is that everything on the screen seems to jump out, but imagine with football it would like the ball is flying straight at you.

 It will be very expensive to upgrade but it’s worth it. And Sky Media Company have also said it will launch a 3D channel later this year which will also show films and maybe some football.
