hello page project

Summary

I have been very motivated by the potential of the elanguages website and would like to try out this idea for a project. Since I have been using the site, I have become aware that there are a lot of people registered who have no profile. It is a shame when people ask to join your project but their hello page tells you nothing about them. I am a language teacher and also work with a team of practising teachers in Derbyshire who work with schools to support the primary languages initiative. I am encouraging the schools who are interested in using elanguages to use the ‘hello page’ as an opportunity to present their school and really showcase who they are. On my ‘hello page’ I have made some suggestions about involving the children in discussing what they would want to tell the world about their school. As a continuation of this idea and because I am a language teacher my idea is to create simple materials which can be used in language classes around the world and or to translate the text into as many languages as possible. (I would love volunteers from different countries to volunteer to translate the different sections of the website) The suggestions on my hello page are : Where my village/town is in my country Where my country is in the world Pictures of my village/town and the surrounding countryside Pictures of the school Description of the school Labelled plan of the school Our teachers Our names Our favourite subjects The school day in words or pictures Our work – poems, writing, pictures Outings and activities – photos, text A class area to showcase work / activities of each class A whole school celebration area to record highlights of the school year A diary with a memorable school experience for each month A forum – where you can talk to other schools and they can talk to you Sound recordings – favourite songs, I would be interested in people’s comments and suggestions for other things which they might be interested in showcasing. I will put a few project stages in to set the project going but perhaps people could join in the discussion and suggest stages which they would like to include. When you have created something for your ‘hello page’ which you are proud of and would like to share with other schools as a language learning resource, then you would upload it to the relevant section of the project. We would need to think carefully about language use and discuss this with the children, choosing useful vocabulary and perhaps repeating structures.

Links to our Hello Pages

A quick way to share the work we are doing when we have created some resources we would like to share.

This is a link to my personal hello page which I have used to encourage the schools I work with to create hello pages which include lots of variety and interest.

This is a space for Castleton school which is intended to bring together the various projects which they are working on.  Perhaps your school would like to do something similar and share it with the group?

Where is my school?

An area to help locate your school within your country and the world. It could be formatted as a presentation with simple captions.

Isabelle's School

Resources to showcase Brittany and the Ecole Jacques Brel.

This lovely powerpoint was created by Isabelle Haguet to introduce her school to our school in the spirit of the 'hello page project'.
Isabelle's school is in Brittany and the Internaute Magazine has wonderful photos of Brittany from the sky. (Link below)
I work in Derbyshire and there is a website which invites people who live in the Peak District to share their photos and favourite places. Hopefully it will give you a flavour of what this part of the world looks like.

My school

An area to describe the school. This could be useful for teaching vocabulary to do with the school buildings and rooms. It could include a labelled plan of the school or photos of the different areas with captions.

A powerpoint to teach vocabulary to do with school, in a cultural context.  The children have also recorded the text.

The subjects we learn, showcased through the display on the classroom walls.

Suggestions and offers of help with translation

Please do contribute to the project and suggest further project stages. I would really like the text of the project to be posted in other languages. If you feel you would like to get involved in this way please get in touch.

Yes, we can do international shipnipg. However, you will have to pay for the shipnipg costs, USPS, as well as any taxes/tariffs. Also, please do not request us to ship to your location if you know that paintball is illegal or there are any other issues.

While it's a good idea to pay all your bills in a timely mneanr, things like your insurance, rent, utilities, etc don't report timely payment to the credit bureaus and don't impact your credit score.

. HOWEVER, Woman B claimed she had never said atnhying to A about my wife spreading the rumors and that she was simply concerned about her. She was sorry, apologized, but understood if my wife didn't trust her as a friend. My wife was hurt, but choose to forgive woman B and move on and attempt to repair things with woman A.The next morning, woman B went to A and told her what my wife had done to her. Woman A was concerned about the accuracy of the information she was getting from B. Woman A asked her again if she was sure that what she had said at the party was true, including the party about my wife telling many different people and maliciously attempting to start the rumors. B said this was all true again, and that my wife was really upset with A and wanted to bring her down with what she said.A week later, my wife tried to talk to woman A to apologize for what was said. Woman A would not even look at my wife. She said she was done with her as a friend. She explained that woman B had come back to her to tell her she had been talking about her AGAIN, and she reiterated about the fact she had been spreading the rumors maliciously and my wife wanted to hurt woman A. None of this was true. Woman A called my wife a slew of fowl language in front of me, in front of dozens of her close friends and in front of many of my wife's friends. She stated that she was lying because woman B had said these things to her twice, and that she wouldn't lie.My wife is woman A's boss. Woman A is letting this effect her work. Woman A has cut off all communication with my wife outside of work. Woman B is now completely avoiding my wife entirely as well as woman B's husband, who is a close friend of mine.My wife forgave them both for what happened. Several weeks has passed. I have a hard time forgiving these people and wanted them to ever be back at our home. They were both very good friends of my wife's and now she feels alone and isolated because her two best friends destroyed their friendship. I even lost a close friend. The collateral damage goes very deep, since these were mutual friends of almost everyone we know.My wife wants me to move on, but I have such a hard time with that. My wife was trying to do the biblically accurate thing to hold a fellow sister in christ accountable and her other sister in christ; who was not a new christian, but a strong one, threw it in her face. She broke her trust not once, but twice.I just think she doesn't need to be friends with these people if this is how they treat their relationships. I don't feel comfortable having them around my home if this is what they choose to do.What do you think?

I had a rather hard time cohnsiog just one type of physician I would want to work for. So many of them fascinate me, and with me not really going into any medical field other than support, I never gave this any thought in the past. After reading the list, I am more favorable of working for a neonatologist. It is difficult to think about how neonatologist physicians sometimes have the most difficult job in the world, but I can only imagine how amazing it would be to be a part of saving a baby’s life. I had a coworker once whose baby was born at 36 weeks, and her baby had a lot of heart and lung problems. There were concerns about whether or not they would ever fully develop once she had him, but after many months in the NICU, and many scares that happened during it, the doctors were able to save him and he is now a very healthy 5 year old. It is because of that I have a higher interest in the neonatologist field.I hate to say which type of physician I would care less to work for, and it is because I worry that many will take it the wrong way. When I was 16, I used to help my mom at an assisted living home as a caregiver. We would get to work at 7:00 A.M. every morning to prepare breakfast for four of the elderly men and women that we were caring for. We would then make sure that all bedding was changed, rooms were cleaned, meals were prepared, and appointments were handled. We worked 12 hour days, and they were always grueling. The owner of the home made sure that everyone had their medicine and made it to their doctor appointments on time. However, she was more worried about getting paid for her services than actually helping the elderly. She would yell at them if they did something wrong, and even call them terrible names. My mom reported her and we both quit our job, but it has always left a sting in my heart since then. It is because of my experience with that situation that I do not think I could ever work for a gerontologist. I know that the situations would be much different, but ever since my experience with caring for elderly individuals it is very hard for me to think about assisting a physician in geriatrics because I worry that someone else might treat the elderly in the same way the owner of the home did. I am a firm believer that the elderly deserve the ultimate care and comfort when going through any treatment and aging in general, but I do not think I could ever work in that environment again. http://tbmbujwrpk.com vegkwpwfntd [link=http://egmhfnobf.com]egmhfnobf[/link]

The specialist I would most like to work with is an Obstetrician. I have two chlrdien of my own and learned quickly that each birthing experience is unique and very different. I think it would be amazing to go to work every day, and never know what will happen. I also love babies! After I had my youngest child the doctor advised me not to have any more chlrdien so I feel like getting to go to work every day and see babies being born would be magical, but I would also get to go home and sleep peacefully! I am not sure how else to explain my wanting to work with an Obstetrician, but to say I have always thought it would be fascinating. Another specialist I would like to work with is Psychiatrist. I have a family history of mental illness and also addiction and have found all of my psychology classes intriguing. I am captivated by what goes into making each person who they are, and listening to every person’s story. I want to help people that are having struggles with their everyday lives find some kind of peace and happiness.I know we are supposed to pick one or two specialties we wouldn’t want to focus on, but I do not want to work under any surgical specialty. Blood does not make me squeamish but cutting into the body does not intrigue me. Cutting into another person’s skin is not on my list of top jobs I would like to do. I have great respect for neurosurgeons and cardiovascular surgeons, but it not something I want to help with. http://mnpcuhtgyfv.com qpctzdg [link=http://yfodpa.com]yfodpa[/link]
