Thanks for sending your art work... Please answer our questions! Corpus Christi Portsmouth, England
First of all thanks for asking questions and showing your interest in us. All JNVs are in remote areas and they are near villages mostly .Our school is also surrounded by farms and the village is 2 kms away from our campus. But the pupils generally belong to city or remote villages. In vacations we go our home towns. We are lucky to see village life closely. When we came here we thought we could not adjust but now it's lovable to leave here now.

Yes ,our village is far away from main city but here all facilities are available. The city is about 40 kms away. We go to city only when we are returning back to home towns. Teachers are also from other states. School is residential so we live in this village. We have no connection with outside world or village generally as everything is available in campus.Only we have to study and play.
No, a few people do farming and others do business or go to services in the city. Natives of villages have moved to metropolitans also for jobs. Some of the villagers are successful businessmen in Kolkata , Gujarat and often come to village and help poor people. Our village has Public Schools too.Farming is done by servants of rich merchants or poor people.
No ,farming is not the only job of the villagers .They do different work and also go out for the service. There you can find a doctor, ironsmith, shopkeeper, contractor, midwives, teachers, policeman, butcher etc.A village in our India is a small community with all the facilities and jobs in it .They depend on each other for getting the services.
We in Navodaya conduct unit test and term test. Now our examination system has changed. From last year we have adopted grading system.
We take exams in May at the end of Key Stage 2 (aged 11) - these are compulsory government led tests and are marked externally.
In addition to these we test each year in the summer and mark these tests in school.
We also carry out informal assessments throughout the year.
We use a system called APP (Assessing Pupil's Progress). It is based on levels beginning at 1c and ending at 5a (e.g. 1c, 1b, 1a, 2c, 2b, and so on). We have a set of objectives that a child must meet to achieve each level. Evidence for the is assessment is collected through a range of independent working opportunities and recorded by the class teacher on a crib sheet. This is then triangulated with test results to give an accurate assessment of the child. We currently assess in this way for reading, writing and maths.
JNV Moradabad is located in the midst of farming lands, far away from the maddening crowd. One can see only rustic people busy in work morning till night .They have their own way of living but the atmosphere and environment of the place is very soothing.calm and quite. You can enjoy the scenic beauty of not only the local area but the hills of Uttrakhand are also there to cature the natural beauty. No doubt the vidyalaya is located in Uttar Predesh but it is near to the boundary of Ramnagar and Kashipur which are the worth visiting places of Uttrakahnd.Lets see what you feel and think about the school after watching the snaps taken from my window.
