Hello, We will be looking at Social Justice and Equity from different cultural perspectives. The main aims and objectives of the project are: 1. to explore students' definitions and perceptions about wealth and poverty in their countries. 2. to encourage students to recognise that they are global citizens and can play an active role to challenge various types of inequality. 3.to carry out research and make informed decisions about reducing poverty. 4.to practice reading and writing for different purposes. The project will explore definitionsof poverty eg. United Nations and national definitions, factors that lead to inequality and poverty, local national and global poverty eradication policies. PROPOSED LEARNING OUTCOME: 1. to improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills through research, creative writing, designing questionnaires and taking part in debates. 2. To use the internet for research, preparing reports and sending emails. PROPOSED CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES: Students will have class discussions and design posters about the meaning of social justice and equity, poverty and its causes. They will also use various media such as radio, newspapers, internet and books to find out about the Millennium Development Goals and definitions of poverty. Collect data about inequalities in their countries. Investigate poverty eradication policies at all levels. Design a questionnaire to elicit information. Veronica/Lindsay
