Udomsuksa School Year 2013 Summer Camps

Summer holidays in our school usually starts during the 1st week of March and end to mid of May. Different camps were held in Udomsuksa School this month of March. 2 days camp were arranged for interested students from each grade level. The school conducted camps to encourage students to spend their free time wisely. A day activities were done inside the school urroundings and the other day was spent for a field trip outside Bangkok. One of the biggest camp held was the 5th International Culture Exchange Camp which was held from March 17 - 23. Participants were students from Srilanka, Korea, Singapore and Thailand. Udomsuksa School director was the camp organizer and the school was the host during the camp days. The aim of this camp was to promote Thai arts, culture, tourist places, the language, food and others. Most of the images found in this gallery were of the International Culture Exchange Camp.

Brief details of the aim, content and outcomes of the activity

To create environmental awareness : The Litter Squad of the school had undertaken a Programme where the school should be a free plastic zone. Several posters were made and slogans were written and stuck around the school, focussing on the health hazards. All plastic items were seized. Students went on a drive to keep the school clean. · Students have put in an effort to make South City International School a free plastic zone. While performing this activity we showed examples of various countries like U.K and Bangladesh following the slogan of No Plastic zone in their respective areas. To create social awareness the students had gone for CLEAN CITY DRIVE. This programme was undertaken in collaboration with British Council. The students , with teachers went to Southern Avenue, Kolkata, and had cleaned an area, propagating the idea of keeping the city clean. Posters and slogans were used. Badges were also made and the students learnt and realised the purpose of this programme. They even wrote short slogans on how to make the earth clean. For ex: SAVE THE EARTH. GREEN EARTH. PLANT A TREE TO MAKE EARTH FREE OF POLLUTION etc Students realize the importance of green earth.

Loy Krathong Day, November 28, 2012 in Thailand

Loy Krathong Day is one of the famous festivals here in Thailand. On this day, Thai people went to the nearest temple where there is a river in this area. Though it was not a holiday, people celebrated this with happiness and full of hope that their wishes will come true after floating the Krathong along the river edge. Tourists liked to watch and even join in this activity. The went to the temple at night to see the beauty of Krathong with lights floating. Firecrackers were also lighted. There were beauty contests held in different places called 'Miss Nopamart' Some students from the Kindergarten and elementary grades here in Udomsuksa School Lardphrao held a very different activity from the previous years because it was raining hard on this day. His Majesty, the King of Thailand did his yearly floating of the Royal Krathong as shown in one of the pictures in this gallery.

Udomsuksa School Lardphrao Sports Days

All schools in Thailand include Sports Days in their yearly curriculum planning. Udomsuksa School Lardphrao administrators and teachers scheduled our yearly sports days last November 12 (for secondary levels) and November 13 (for elementary levels). 2- 3 days meetings before the specified dates for sports days were arranged for the students to be grouped in different colours, selection of students who will be joining in the different competitions such as: sports played in the school, parade, ground demonstrations and cheer leaders competions.This gallery contains the activities held during the school sports days.

School Activities during Semester break, October, 2012

From September 28 to October 31, our students are on their holidays but during these days, the school organized different camps to train children, pupils and students to use their time wisely. Academics and extra curricular activities were mostly done in the school premises but a day for a field trip for every camp was organized. Participants enjoyed and learned a lot during these acitivites. Some students also joined the camp held at Singapore. This gallery contains different activities held during the camps.

August 12 - Mothers' Day in Thailand

Every year, there is a big celebration in Thailand during Mothers' Day. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit celebrates her birthday on this day too. Schools, government offices and different organizations organize programs, different activities and gatherings to celebrate the Queen's birthday. Udomsuksa School is one of them. Last August 10, a very special program was held in our school. A program with presentations from the students, essay writing and drawing contests about Mothers' Day were organized and winners were awarded certicates of appreciation. On this day too, the Vacharaskunee Foundation, headed by the school owners; Mr. Udom and Kasemsri Vacharaskunee donated goods and cash to poor schools especially those coming from the provinces. The foundation helped students by giving them scholarships too. Also, a mother was selected to be the 'Mother of the Year'.

Buddhist Lenten Activities in Udomsuksa School Lardphrao, Bangkok Thailand

August 2 (Asahakabucha Day) and August 3 (KaoPansa Day), 2012 start the Buddhist Lenten festival here in Thailand. These days are national holidays to enable Thai Buddhist people go to the temple to offer food, dry goods and other things the monks will need during their 3 months lenten days. Monks from different temples will do their meditations, prayers and learnings about Buddhism in the temple or other places where they can spend their lenten days. Udomsuksa School Lardphraao, Bangkok Daily Morning Activities

Udomsuksa School Lardphrao, Bangkok is a big school. It enrolls children from Nursery to grade 12 students. Due to this big enrolment and so many classes to be involved, each grade level is scheduled to be in the school playground to perform the daily morning activities such as: flag raising, reciting students' morning prayers and pledge, the school principal's daily message to the students and the aerobic exericises Other classes perform these activities along the cooridors outside their classrooms. These are the daily schedules and can be observed what day because teachers wear uniforms with the colour for the day. Monday (white): Grades 1- , 7-9 Tuesday (pink): Grades 3 & 6 Wednesday (Green or Scjout unifrorm): Nursery - Kindergarten 3, Grades 1- 2 Thursday (orange): Grades 4 5 Friday (blue or Thai costume): English Program and Fuiturre Program Grades1 - 6

FAREWELL, CLASS XII

RPVV, Tyagraj Class XI students organized a wonderful party to bid farewell to class XII. Dressed up in their best the invitee boys and girls, some feeling shy and conscious, others all confident came to enjoy the party. The young ladies glowed in sarees whereas the gentlemen carried themselves smartly in suits. The hosts gave them auspicious, traditional welcome with the Tilak and flowers adding more colour to the happy smiling faces. Thereafter began the Lamp of Knowledge ceremony. Every year when it’s time for class XII to pass out, the Lamp of Knowledge ceremony is organized so that the legacy of the institution – the principles, code of conduct, values and wisdom is passed on by the seniors to their immediate juniors. For, it’s their turn to shoulder the responsibilities as the senior most class in the school. Class 12 students were handed over the lit candles, symbolizing wisdom and knowledge which were then placed on the map of India with pride and care. The light from the candles lit the environment with serenity and piousness. As everyone posed for pictures, there was laughter and happiness all around. The cultural programme consisted of songs and dances. The students shared their anecdotes of the time spent in school with their teachers. They were then presented with mementos. It was a nostalgic moment, the memories of which they will cherish for a lifetime. The Principal Ms. Summeta Bahl in her address to the students wished them the very best for their future and advised them to always adopt just means to reach their goals. The students also thanked everyone, especially the Principal and their loving teachers for the guidance and affection showered by them during their long tenure in the institution.

Republic Day celebrated in RPVV, Tyagraj

Republic Day, celebrated on January 26th every year, is one of India’s most important national events. It was on January 26th, 1950 that the constitution of India came into force and India became a truly Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state. In Delhi schools, Republic Day is celebrated a day before as 26th January is a national holiday. Republic Day was celebrated this year in RPVV, Tyagraj with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm. It was attended by the Principal, staff and students of RPVV, Tyagraj. The ceremony began with the march past of the students who escorted the Principal to unfurl the National Flag. After the hoisting of the Flag, everybody paid respect to the National Anthem. Thereafter in her address, the Principal wished the students a bright future and expressed the importance of being a true Indian. The speech was followed by patriotic songs and colouful dances. The entire ceremony was organised by Ms. Shashi Kain, our music teacher. Later in the day, a drawing competition was held for the students. The topic was ‘India of my dreams’. Republic Day is truly a people’s day.

Annual Day at Tyagraj Nagar, New Delhi, India

ANNUAL DAY AT RPVV, TYAGRAJ, LODHI ROAD RPVV, Tyagraj, Lodhi Road celebrated its Annual Day on January 15. Ms. Satinder Kaur, Regional Director (South), Directorate of Education, Delhi was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Others present were Mr. B. N. Bajpayi, Retired Director, SCERT, and Parent Representatives. The function commenced with lamp lighting and the ‘Incantation of the Mantras’. This was followed by Saraswati Vandana. The event included two classical dances and two Rajasthani folk dances performed by the students of the School. The day also marked the release of the School Magazine, ‘Utkrishti’ Manoj Kumar of XII B was awarded the Best Student Award. He won the first prize in 4 x 100 mts relay at the North Zone Athletic Meet in the Senior Boys Category. The highlight of the day was Kuchipudi performed by Alekhya of VII A. and Kathak by students of Class VIII. The Chief Guest congratulated the students on their extraordinary performance in academics as well as co-curricular activities.

Udomsuksa School Wai Kru Day' - Day of Giving respect to teachers'

'Wai Kru Day' - Giving respect to all teachers. This is a special day for all the pupils and students in Thailand. This is different from their 'Teachers' Day' and it's a nationwide holiday for all teachers and schools are closed but 'Wai Kru Day' is done during the month of June. Schools celebrate this traditional occasion in different dates after the schools opened and this is not considered as a holiday for the schools. On June 14, Udomsuksa School celebrated 'Wai Kru Day'. This was a big opportunity for the pupils and students to express and show their love and respect to their teachers. Three ceremonies were held during the day: 1st ceremony was children from Kindergarten level to grades 3, 2nd ceremony was from grades 4 to 6 and the 3rd was from grades 7 to 12. There was distribution of certificates to outstanding students from the previous school year. Graduated students visited the school during this day to give respect to their teachers.

World Environment Day

An activity was arranged at Udomsuksa School to join the 'World Environment Day' . The Science subject coordinator invited resource persons to impart knowledge on the importance of saving energy. Representatives from PTT Company Limited gave information about the "Gas Separation Plant" in Thailand Manuals about the operating system of the plant, its definitionLobjectives gas separation process, gas separation plant and country development, etc. were distributed to the teachers and students after the activity.

Vesak Day or Visak Puja Day - Birth of King Buddha

Last June 4, 2012 , Thailand celebrated one of their most important religious holiday. Once again, Udomsuksa School arranged a religious cerremony in the morning of June 1. Parents and students were invited to join the praying ceremony led by the monks who are teaching Buddhist religion to our school. After the ceremony, the monks gave religious teachings to our students and explained the meaning and importance of Vesak Day.

Back to School for School Year 2012-2013

May 22nd, Udomsuksa School, Lardphrao Bangkok once again was opened. Pupils and students were all happy seeing all their old friends, saying hellos and exchanging greetings. Children from the nursery and kindergarten were to be seen accompanied by their parents to their new classrooms. Every body is busy again. .

A Big Day at Udomsuksa School, Bangkok Thailand

May 16 is always a big day for the administration, teachers and employees of Udomsuksa School, Bangkok It's the birthday of the owner and adviser of the school, Acharn Udom Vacharaskunee. Once again, we celebrated his birthday with happiness and wishing him good health and more birthdays to come.

Udomsuksa School Young Volunteers

Last May 5 - 7, 2012, once again the school young volunteers had done a great and meaningful accomplishment in their life as students. This group of 21 students from the secondary grade levels with the guidance and supervision of Dr. Kamolwan Chaiwanichsiri (school director) and Dr. Apikanya Mongkulwisoot (Kindergarten school principal) organized a camp and did a wonderful missionary activity to one of the schools in the provinces affected by the previous flood disaster. These young volunteers were accompanied by the two said school administrators, 6 teachers, 4 workers, 17 volunteered parents and 13 friends of our own students. They went to Ban Prongye School, Petchburi. Udomsuksa School built a separate canteen for the kindergarten children to eat during lunch time so they will not be wet during rainy season and stay under a shade during hot season. The campers, repainted the school building, set up new bulletin boards with updated displays, planted new plants infront of the school building, replaced the destroyed electrical wiring.connections, etc. Our young volunteers go out of the school campus during weekends, holidays or vacation days so their learnings are not affected. This is how they also spend their free time, doing voluntary works to the needy.

Sonkran Festival, Thai New Year 2012

April 13 - 16, Thailand celebrated their New Year's Days. It was a big celebration for Thai people. Songkran Days is also called Water festivals due to their traditional practices during the 3 days celebration. Most of them started the holiday by visiting the temple, did their religious practices by praying, offered some religious and necessary things to the monks. The young ones did the throwing of water to other people passing by. Udomsuksa School celebrated Songran Day last April 12. There were 8 children from grades 5 and 6 who entered the monkhood for this occasion. Parents believed that their children and their family will receive more graces if their children entered during these periods.

A Thai reglious ceremony

As a catholic, I was very much interested and amazed on this special occasion held at Udomsuksa School. This is my first time to see and be present in this celebration. Today, April 11, 2012, a very sacred religious activity was held here in our school. The image of the goddess for safety and guidance was transferred from UdomKasem Business School (a previous business school) to Udomsuksa School (opposite road only). The procession was headed by the school owner, Mr. Udom and Mrs Kasemsri Wacharaskunee followed by their daughters and son , then the Thai teachers and other school employess present on this day. This is one of the culture and traditions I want to share to other people from different countries.
