This looks like a great project. The pictures of Indonesian food are amazing and making me hungry :) I’ve posted a powerpoint from students in the UK with info about Cornwall and Cornish Pasties (very tasty)! They are primary students, but maybe you could post a question about them on the Cornwall project page and invite them to send you the recipe.
I'm also sure they would be very interested in your wonderful Indonesian dishes.

Here in Bulgaria students start school on 15th of September.Till then only the teachers will be able to exchange info with the partners.

Hi Sopyan, Thank you for your reply. I think this will be a popular
subject with students. It’s great to see the new pictures of dishes
from Romania, posted by Cristina and more fantastic Indonesian dishes

Hi everybody! In the pictures I've posted on this site there is traditional Romanian food such as: "sarmale" - cabbage leaves filled with a mixture of meat, rice, onion and other spices, "filled peppers" - with the same mixture of meat and rice and "sfintisori" - knot-shaped bread with honey and nuts on the top. I wanted to give you these explanations as I didn't attach them to the pictures.
I'm glad to join this kind of project and share information about not only our traditional food but about our everyday life, our educational system and our culture, too.

interesting to learn about Romanian culture through your traditional
foods. I hope your students also enjoy learning about Indonesian,
Bulgarian and other cultures through this project as it develops.

Hi Christina, your explanations sound interesting! What is the common
spices that you use? In Indonesia, we usually use lots of garlic and
shallots. We also use sweet and salty soy sauce. For satay (in the
picture), we use ground peanut for the sauce.

Hi Leliana,
We also use garlic in cooking, but other spices, too, like pepper,daphne,juniper.and many others.But these are the most common.We only use peanuts for preparing sweets.

Children in our school bring their lunch or snack. Recently they receive daily, through a government programme, a kind of bread which ressembles that used for hot dog, and milk.
About lunch and dinner, especially in our region people are known to eat well.
at lunch we usually eat soup or our traditional "bors"- with a lot of vegetables and meat, and a second dish usually steak with mashed or fried potatoes. Our dinner is a lighter dish. For some of us dinner is the main meal of the day, especially when we work all day long.
Do you know that my students go home at 1pm. So, they have lunch at
their home. Usually they have snack on break time. It is really
different with European students. But, in some private school they
having lunch at school.

Stage one introduction traditional food was great and really fun. My students like to explore it.
Today, we start to do the 2nd stage about food hunting and documentation.
Students and teacher have to find the best restaurant in town that serve traditional food. Students can take a pictures or video. We upload and share the experience.

I also agree. Student will interview the chef but if the chef keeping his/her secret recipes, we can
browse to internet to find the ingredient of the recipes by
ourselves. It will be help us. Have a nice food hunting.

Mobility partnership with 4-5 countries. So we can visit each
country,meet and write our international recipe book.l am in the EU

available to teachers outside the EU. If this is possible I think it
would be fantastic for the teachers involved in the project to have

I got the pictures while attend the AEC-Net 7th Conference at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Although Malaysia and Indonesia is close but the cullinary is different. Especially the taste. My year 9 students will be making Cornish Hevva (Heavy) cake next week, I will post some photos and the recipe for people to try.
Its name is derived from the Pilchard industry in Cornwall prior to the 20th century when a 'huer' (cliff top lookout) helped locate shoals of fish. The huer would shout 'Hevva!, Hevva!' to alert the boats to the location of the pilchard shoals. Cornish tradition states that Hevva cake was baked by the huers on their return to their homes, the cake being ready by the time the crews returned to land.It is very tasty-give it a go!

We have been given details of your project by the British Council.
We are participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week 16-20th November. We will be producing a Global Recipe Book and look forward to including some of your excellent recipes.
