Summary

SUMMARY; This project is aimed at exploring students' definitions and perceptions about wealth and poverty in their countries and to extend the boundaries of knowledge through creative writing, collaboration and exchange of ideas.2. To encourage students to recognise that they are global citizens and can play an active part in challenging various types of inequality eg. gender; 3. To carry out research and make informed decisions about reducing poverty. 4. To practise reading and writing for different purposes - reports, persuasive arguments, creative writing and poetry. PARTICIPANTS: Independence Layout Junior Secondary School, Enugu, Nigeria and Blackheath High School, London. We will be looking at Social Justice and Equity from different cultural perspectives.The main aims and objectives of the project are:

1. to explore students' definitions and perceptions about wealth and poverty in their countries.
2. to encourage students to recognise that they are global citizens and can play an active role to challenge various types of inequality.
3. to carry out research and make informed decisions about reducing poverty.
4. to practise reading and writing for different purposes.

The project will explore definitions of poverty eg. United Nations and national definitions, factors that lead to inequality and poverty, local national and global poverty eradication policies.
