Summary

Each city or town has its own unique history and culture.In our project we try to share information about our native city and about people living here. We'll be really glad to know the same about you. The aim of this project is to create an online magazine about youth life in our city and to explore Wiki where participants write articles and news stories.

Stage 1. Selection and group formation

Participants should pass a test to indentify their English level. The required level is Intermediate or Pre-Intermediate. The second round is to write an essay of 200-250 words about "The influence of the Internet: more harm than good or vice versa". Then participants are divided into 2 project groups, about 12 students each.

Stage 2. Creation of online magazine

During 4 consecutive sessions students explore PBworks.com web site and practice their writing skill. The detailed descripition of all stages is presented below.

All students were rewarded with diplomas and special CDs that contain a movie about this project and a list of Internet resources that can help them to improve and practice their English.

Our online project is ready. Groups of students and teachers have worked on this magazine for one month and now we can introduce this site for everyone. At first, find out something about the history of Ulyanovsk. You can choose any article you like. Then you can look for other information about our city. Would it be entertainment? Or sport? It's up to you. And finally, look at the people who created this magazine!
