The students will choose 4-6 animals which are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature( IUCN) list in India, China, Kenya, Indonesia and Brazil.
Grade Seven students will work on the following aspects of the project:
• Identify the endangered animals.
• Research on the population statistics- a decade ago, at present and in the decade to come.
• Locate the geographical distribution of these animals and represent the same on a map of that country.
• Study the habitat, characteristics and eating habits of the animals.
• Find out the reasons for their declining numbers.
• Research about the measures adopted at the government and local levels for their conservation.
• Devise activities to spread awareness in school and in the society. Grade Eight students will work on the following aspects of the project:
• Collect stamps and postcards of the endangered species.
• Participate in - poem writing - face painting - T- shirt painting - poster making - calendar making
The project duration: April to September 2010.
