A global topic which can be used to elicit a lot of knowlegde based as well as creative response from students. A good way to get children from different countries to collaborate and learn about their planet earth.

I agree Anuradaha. This is a great project idea for all the reasons
you've mentioned!
Just to let you know, Tristan's set up a discussion forum on the
main project page called 'River Talk' which I think will be a better
place to post messages in future as the project develops. Best

Contamination of river waters by Industrial waste

While in India, the rapid industrialisation has made the river and ground water contamination almost a non-reversible slime, specially where the rivers flow along the boundary or periphery of big cities, I wish the students to explore their cities' rivers to find the facts by themselves. May be what could not be changed in years can be reversed by the spirited young generation who still have ideals and desire to have a healthy world.
As the most of rivers in the world passing through the industrail areas & cities the waste of daily life & industries are contaminating our water resources , It is the time to develop awareness among students regarding the cleanliness of water & river system which is the life line of any nation.
Adding river's ecosistem on your stages

I've read your project and I like it a lot. It's really creatives, it make students receive a lot during their time working on each stages.
May suggestion if you want to add more stages on your project I think you can add "the river's ecosistem and what kind of toxic that detected on the river and what's caused it?"
I think that is all.

Hi Lisa - Nice to have you join the forum! Would your students be
interested in creating some presentations, stories or artwork about
Rivers near them?
They could focus on the health of the river and the impact of how
the river is used on the its ecosystem.

I would like the students to check the quality of river water i.e. pH of water and compare it with the pH of Drinking water.
