Activity 5 - Comenius
The Holt is taking part in a 3 year Comenius funded project entitled 'Terr@ Nostra, Vit@ Nostra'. The participating schools are College Jacques Brel, Noyal, near Rennes, Brittany, France (lead schools), Istituto Vanvitelli, Ancona, Italy and Pleven Language School, Bulgaria.
Each year has a different focus; 2006-2007 was local traditions, folklore, history, monuments
2007-2008 is national music, politicians, protest songs, national identity
2008-2009 is the place of each country in the international world, focussing on the environment
Each year there are 2 'mobilities' funded by the project.
2006 saw a meeting in Brittany and in June 2007 in Wokingham (French and Bulgarian pupils visited the Holt)
February 2008 the meeting was in Ancona Italy, with French, Bulgarian and English staff and pupils joining the Italian students
May 2008 the meeting was in Pleven, Bulgaria, again with all four schools represented
November 2008 is Ancona
April 2009 - final meeting is in France (project host country).
There is a Comenius Club at The Holt which meets every 2 weeks, and there is also a Comenius Cookery club, which tries out receipes sent us by our partner schools.
Many departments in school have been and are activly involved in the project, including Geography, Food Technology, Music, MFL, Art.
