It is also vital that you as a teacher consider issues of safety and copyright and equally vital that pupils are made very aware of these. Study the following notes carefully, and ensure you have a full understanding of the issues involved.
Safety online
Working safely online is something all pupils must understand. If working in a public online area such as a blog they must never reveal personal details which would allow a stranger to contact them. If they are working in a protected online community, as is the case with certain social networking sites designed for educational cooperation, they may feel confident to post personal photographs and their names but should still be discouraged from posting details which could be used by strangers. As a way of conveying the dangers of careless behaviour online and as a way of developing the target language, why not look for a target language website designed for children on the theme of working safely on the Internet?
