We are from Ashok Girls' Higher Secondary School, Kolkata, India. The aim of our project is to share the Indian concept of personifying “The Earth” as our mother on an international platform. We take the world to be one large family where we are the children of mother earth and share all our knowledge to keep her happy and healthy. Objectives: The highlights of our programme is- Nature provides for man’s need, not for his greed. Sustain the environment by returning to Nature what we have taken from her. To convince the general public about the importance of conservation and carry out awareness programme at grass root level. The students of class VIII and ECO club are mainly involved in the project. As a part of our activity we have uploaded few paintings by the students depicting their visualisation of nature entitled " Nature through young eyes". But the realisation is bitter and when they find that their vision does not match with reality, they have come up with beautiful posters to show their concern. The series is entitled as "Awakening of young minds". We hope you enjoy the paintings and pictures and would be very happy if you give your suggestions so that we may share it with our students. Thanking you, Science Department Ashok Hall
GLOBAL WARMING --- We at SOUTH CITY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL worked in Several global issues pose a threat to the present generation. Should we let the present global issues gradually encroach and annihilate the signs and symbols of our ancient civilization ? In order to create awareness we organized a variety of programmes like songs , dance, quiz, debate, panel discussions which acted as a platform to voice our students’ opinion on this issue which is detrimental to human existence. Hasn’t the time come for all of us to wake up from our slumber and contemplate on the measures that could be adopted to prevent further damages? We need to come up with various awareness programmes to educate this generation to withstand the disasters. However to make this possible , we hosted a panel discussion focusing on three ‘R’s- REDUCE,REUSE and RECYCLE which was an appropriate platform to instil in our students global awareness and sensitise them with these issues. This type of activity creates awareness in children and they realize the cause for Global warming, importance of natural resources and the role Nature plays in one”s life.
